win7-64 professional lock screen not blanking multiple displays

    Hello,

I have been searching on the internet and not finding much other than disabling the ctrl-alt-del lock screen or changing the background for the lock screen, and neither I have an interest. I just got a new lease roll at work, I went from an HP to a Dell running 5 24-inch displays, two from the docking station, and three from two separate dual "displaylink" usb 3.0 monitor adapters. The problem I am having when I try to go to screen lock is the only screen that shows the lock screen is the primary display, the other four displays show a snapshot of whatever was open on each display (meaning they don't show the mouse moving or update). In the past they would just go to a blank (black) screen.

I did try testing the screensaver with a blank screen and when I enable that, all 5 displays show a blank black screen. I am also using the dell e-port plus 240watt model (current docking station on dells site). Two docking stations tested, same anomaly occurring on both.

I have admin rights on this laptop and am comfortable in the registry, however I am not finding much information regarding registry options and keys regarding screen lock.

    thank you

"5 24-inch displays, two from the docking station, and three from two separate dual "displaylink" usb 3.0 monitor adapters"

Are you sure? It would make sense if
    - One from the docking station
    - four from two separate dual "displaylink" usb 3.0 monitor adapters

Yes, the one at work, the docking station didn't like the dvi cable and since I didn't have another DisplayPort cable handy, I plugged it into the spare port on the USB adapter. The 5 monitor setup at home is using two dvi cables in the docking station and three cables hooked into the USB adapters, so two different cabling setups, and it's happening on both setups.

    My question is:
    - At work you have one at the docking station and four at the USB device, right?
    - At home you have two at the docking station and three at the USB device, right?

Does the image remains only on those connected to the USB device?

Yes, you are right. I just powered up the laptop since I am at home and tested on the docking station where I have two connected by the docking station by dvi, and three connected by the displaylink dual usb adapters. the ones that show the snapshots are the ones connected via usb, the second monitor that is connected via the docking station dvi goes blank (black). Is there a registry hack I can perform that applies to the usb adapted monitors?

I'm thinking I may have to power up my old laptop and search in the registry for displaylink and step through each entry on both laptops to stare and compare to see if there are any differences as well

As an electronic engineer, I would say that that USB device works as a time sharing device, that is, it receives the image to monitor one and save to a memory, then receives the image to the second monitor and save to second memory...
When you lock the screen, it will display the last image received. Try to power off the USB device (then on again).

Ok, its fixed now... I had typed the whole thing out on the steps I took and mistakenly clicked mark solved which did not post my reply. I downloaded the drivers this time from the Displaylink site after verifying my uninstall of the old version was completely wiped with no appearances. Now the lock screen is blanking out my other monitors. Thank you for pointing me in the correct direction to figure this out myself!
