Please Help! Win7 Black screen of death with cursor on all boot modes

    Hi,

I have recently been facing the KSOD issue on one of my HD's. My computer is running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have 2 hard disks- a Samsung (the HD with the issue) and a Western Digital/WDC (working fine)

When I try to boot the Samsung HD, I get the KSOD (black screen of death) before I am able to login and after the windows splash screen.

Same symptoms as the poster in link below:

I have tried most of the repair suggestions, with no luck.
Did CHKDSK-> there were no bad sectors etc. However it did replace security id with default security id. Not sure if that has caused the issue.

I have run sfc /scannow and the resulting CBS log has been attached.

While I am on the WDC HD, I am still able to access all the files on the the Samsung HD via MyComputer. So dont think that HD has failed just yet.

Could someone please advise how I can resolve this issue?

    Many thanks!

    PI

Hello lifeofpi and Welcome to SevenForums

I have addressed similar issues in the past by :

Win+R (run) then going to C:\Windows and clicking onto explorer.

    Give it a try.

Your computer is a desktop, right?
Do you have Win 7 installed on both HDD?

    If yes:
In witch one you installed fist?
Did you detach the fist one BEFORE installing on the second?

Open Disk Manager, expand the columns so we can read them and with the sniping tool take a snapshot. Post it here as an attachment. (Go Advanced - Manage Attachments - Browse - Upload)
