Lenovo G575 hangs on boot after upgrading to SSD

I have a Lenovo G575 and cloned the mbr partition and the C drive to an ssd drive (silicon power Sata3 S55 220Gbt). When starting it hangs on a black screen with a flickering dash for about 15 minutes and then does eventually boot. I loaded windows tools from the CD and tried a boot repair and it does boot immediately from the reboot command but after shutdown the problem returns and it still hangs for 15 minutes before booting. I also tried an upgrade install of windows from a CD and the problem persists. I tried changing the bios sata controller from fro AHCI to compatible but that doesn't help. Windows 7 has been fully updated and I have run a disk check set to fix errors three times. I also tried using the silicon power ssd tools which shows the ssd has the latest firmware. Window says the best driver for this device is already installed. It appears that windows does not recognise this as a normal boot device and hangs and after waiting decides to boot. Is there anything else I can try? Your advice would be appreciated.

    Kind regards
    Chris

PS the original 500 Gbt Lenovo drive had 5 partitions including a Lenovo recovery partition. The 220 Gbt ssc I cloned by choice has only 3 partitions, the mbr partition, the C drive and the 450mbt windows recovery partition.

There is no such thing as mbr partition. I assume you mean the 100mb system partition?

Can you post a screen shot of disk management window?

Thanks for your reply. Oops yes I meant the 100mb system partition! Here are two screenshots. The one with 5 partitions is the original Lenovo 500Gbt HD. The one with 3 partitions is the new 220 Gbt ssd.

The screenshot of the ssd is from an external sata reader. I had to put the original Lenovo disk back into the laptop as I need it for a presentation. Later I will put the ssd back in and take another screenshot.

    Kind regards
