error at start up

    This is normal behaviour. It means that the offending file was removed. You just need to remove the startup item that was trying to run it.

    Start, Run, msconfig, startup, and uncheck the item that is trying to load sys16.dll. The error message won't appear next time you boot.

    thanks for the advice peeps, but i think im gonna do a format and this time keep on top of doing my image backups
