Access denied to all files as administrator

i have been struggling for a few days with this, hope there is someone who has managed to figure this out yet.

i set permission for ALL USERS to deny on both C: (operating system) and D:

now i am unable to change it back. if i try, it says access denied.

    Unable to take ownership...access denied

have tried right click advanced settings owner, edit ...access denied

have enabled Administrator account.... access denied

    cannot cacls...access denied

even gone as far as disabling UAC via regedit but does nothing

Yes yes, i was dumb. but is there a bright spark that can assist?

Welcome to the forum. Even administrator is part of everyone group you never deny untill you first grant access. What exactly did you do if you have changed ownership your not going to get it going again.

Samuria, if the built in admin acct was not active during this mistake, if it is not a victim of this mistake: could there be a way to bring that built in admin acct to life? And would it be able to drill down and restore proper permissions?

windowed7. Have a look at this MS website & see if there is anything there that helps you.

As you have changed access on your Operating System C, you could perhaps start by selecting Computer & then Right Click on the C drive & select Properties, then the Security tab. After reading through the MS website you should be able to change the Ownership rights of this drive to get it back.

Can you open a command prompt and run it as admin? If so, after opening it type net user administrator /active:yes You should get a message saying that the command completed successfully. Restart the system and you should see the Admin log on. Access it and make the changes needed. one your done log back into your account and test it. If your OK, open the command prompt as admin and type net user administrator /active:no to deactivate the admin account.

Hi guys, thanks for replies. I was able to go into safe mode with command prompt and activate the administrator account. But it does the same...access denied. I am unable to go in elevated command prompt also as the permissions to all the windows commands as the windows drive has access denied.

If i right click on the drive and try take ownership, it says access denied.

As explained in post 5 all admins are members of admin so all locked out did you try post 5 link. You may be better using a live Linux DVD getting data of and do a clean install
