Did you try the numbered steps here?

Did you see a progress bar when attempting the download?

    RE: SwiftSearch

VitusTotal report: Antivirus scan for 097506dcd78a94bae2ce6dd7f7c1a9f340be73e1de29aad3b2f51d4cdc2c908f at

It's only for NTFS formatted drives. It reads the MFT. It will not work on non NTFS formatted drives. It requires admin privileges to work. I use an elevated shortcut to launch it. It's not malware so if you downloaded it from somewhere else then maybe there's a problem. Other than that Kaspersky doesn't like it for some reason.

Mostly when I post scrrenshots I try to obfuscate the program name knowing that people reading posts will try to download it. Sometimes I forget!

Also try stopping any Ccleaner processes or services in task manager and install a new version straight over the old one. See if that fixes it.

Okay I figured out why Kaspersky doesn't like SwiftSearch. It's not signed and that's the only reason. It's not on any blacklist and scans clean on VirusTotal. I've been using it for years.

I have software that scans all new files that attempt to run. It scans via MD5 hash on VirusTotal and then does it's own file safety analysis.

    Using Eraser or SDelete-voodooshield-scan.jpg

I initiated a scan (the file was already whielisted) and as you see no threat detected but AI scan advises to block because file is unsigned. Then it's up to the user to research and decide if it's a false positive.

Ok Callender I have searched for that ini file see pics - no go and I shall install SwiftSearch to see if it fares any better.

The drive is formatted NTFS and I shall try installing Enhancer now that I stopped the process in the task manager. I will try these things first and see what happens.

Oh boy this is not fun anymore I downloaded the SwiftSearch and got the Kaspersky dirge again bypassed it and the details are in the pic. However telling it to run does nothing

By the by the CCleaner still is not working when I installed the Enhancer again so have restored once more and I think maybe it is not worth the time and grief to you and myself really.

Okay. Good luck! The way I use Ccleaner is just scan and clean with no monitoring. Ccleaner is not launched or running when updating cleaning rules using CCEnhaner. When winapp2.ini is downloaded and trimmed Cleaner is launched with only an initial scan to check results. No actual cleaning is done until I am happy.

On another note I just tried an alternative to SwiftSearch. It is also unsigned but is also very fast.

Interestingly it can include or optionally exclude deleted files in the search results and can search all drives at the same time whereas SwiftSearch only searches one drive at a time.

Deleted file is at bottom of list in screenshot. Note all drives searched.

Actually I prefer SwiftSearch as I usually know which drive I want to search. However the deleted file search seems useful.

Also swiftsearch can search using file paths and wildcards.

NTFS search only seems to support file name search (with wildcards)

Example: Search for only .exe files in Directory C:\Users\Chris\Desktop\Toolbox 2

    Search term: C:\Users\Chris\Desktop\Toolbox 2\*.exe

    Results:

Anyway I reckon a fresh install of Ccleaner should fix any problems.

I've seen this before. SwiftSearch must have admin rights. Right click as run as admin. If it doesn't launch - forget about it. Something on your system must be blocking it from searching MFT or from launching.

    I use an elevated shortcut.

    Will check back tomorrow.

RE: Ccleaner not working. I have no idea why CCEnhancer should cause a problem. Like you said if it won't work for you best to ditch it. You could always try bleachbit portable as an alternative as it will use the same rules. If you go down that route be sure to do a test run (Preview) before cleaning anything. It will offer more options than Ccleaner.

Okay I don't know what you downloaded:

I just checked and downloaded from here: SwiftSearch download | SourceForge.net

The file is named swiftsearch.exe and not swiftsearch_4.1.exe - where did you get that from?

    Using Eraser or SDelete-downloads.jpg

EDIT: Okay I see. It's a screenshot from Kaspersky showing different details.
