Possibly both! I sometimes want to reinstall without programs (some change over time), but if it's not long since the image was made then reinstalling with the programs is good. Back-up files separately. Also don't forget to export your bookmarks to your documents folder before backing up files and reinstalling. It's the bit I tend to forget.

fixing boot sector windows 7
Have an issue with unmountable boot in windows 7. Do not have a repair disk or original disks since son purchase it from a friend. I used an XP disk to get in cmd and did a chkdsk /r fixing bad sectors. Can i use the fixboot or bootrec.exe commands to fix the windows 7 boot issue?
