Win 7 Explorer and displaying MP3TAG metadata fails

    Hello,

recently, my windows 7 Explorer (file manager) is unable to display MP3TAG metadata of music when view files in details view or even when right clicking and getting the property on the file itself. Explorer (file manager) is unable to read/access the metadata on single computer. if I use another win 7 PC across the network accessing the same files and subdirectory, I can view the metadata. So it appears just a single pc issue and not the files themselves. This results is WMPlayer unable to read the MP3TAGs also.

I have already updated this PC to the latest updates and I ran virus checker and malware removal tools from Microsoft and it is all clean and green. I have also ran SFC /SCANNOW and it corrected some problems.

I think it is a registry issue, as a while back I had to update the registry manually to enable a simple function, and this might have corrupted part of the registry that deals with file explorer (manager).

Can anyone recommends a solution, or a suggestion so I can get the ability to read the metadata under file explorer without having to re-install win 7?

    many thanks

Thanks for the Tip of installing Windows repair tools..

But I avoid installing any of those tools as my experience tells me they introduce more malware than they remove. Just now when I tried to visit the site, it would not let me close the page without going into Q&A dialog... scary stuff...
