regarding the importance of cpu temperature monitoring, my opinion is that there is no reason at all to watch the temp, or to pay any attention at all. You should never touch your heatsink or change the compound. Backing up your data is what matters. Your hardware is fine.
Hello I downloaded real temp. I unzipped the file and there is no .exe to click on to install, can someone assist me on this. I unzipped it using 7 Zip.

to figure out which lenovo system you have, try Belarc Advisor and post a screenshot of the main results page it produces.
With any downloaded program you would click on the ones that have an .exe file extension and say Application in the Type column. The ones I have boxed would be the ones you can use:
But, there will be times when your downloaded file may look like this when you open it, could you pick the ones you need?
Some of the other members may have suggestions on how they use Real Temp (RT) but I see no way for installation, the documentation that I found says that RT can be set-up as a start up only, but, that doesn't stop you from going into its Folder and clicking on one of those that I boxed.
Oh, btw, the RT doc says you need to right click and run as administrator for RT to run right. That's probably why the author said it's better to create a task for 7 because you can set it to run that way.
Being that your Central Processing Unit (CPU) is an i7/2300 this says it has 4cores and this says you should use the Standard version RT that would be the third one down in my boxed list.StartMinimized
Selecting this will force RealTemp to start up in the System Tray area.
To get Real Temp to start up when Windows XP starts up, drag a link to Real Temp into your All Programs -> Startup folder.
When using Vista or Windows 7, I prefer using the Task Scheduler to control the start up of Real Temp.

I'd read up on all the documentation in my source link before using RT and the others, you can and you won't hurt anything but you won't understand what you're seeing, usually you'd want to see temps around 100 °F or 37.78 °C there is a box you can check in settings to convert °C to °F.

Coretemp is a little easier to install it downloads as a installer so all you have to do is double click on it in the downloads folder and it will install :)

No problem I've always just done at on my post #9 for realtemp.exe to my desktop
When I want it to run I open it from there
It seems as accurate as cpu-z for Mhz and load on the processor :)
It has a lot of features I do not use or need it is only a heads up for temp and load at that time
During MS updating issues it came in quite handy :)
Coretemp is as accurate it's just easier to install and of course good for intel or amd systems but will show all core temps which could be 2 or 4 temp #'s which all I need is 1 :)
