    Problem hooking up phone

I have a Google Pixel phone and I cannot find a way to open it to transfer pics to either my 7 or 10 computers.

I have set the phone to tethering and in Computer the phone icon disappears - switch off tethering and the Pixel icon reappears - have no idea what is going on here as it is a contradictory action .

Try to Open it up via the icon and it comes up blank have asked on the Google community forum but no answers.

Anyone have a similar issue with a Pixel phone?? as I had no such problems with the Samsung phones I have had.

Don't turn on tethering; that's for using your phone's cell connection to connect the PC to the internet.

I don't have a Pixel, but my OnePlus is probably fairly similar, considering it's as new as the Pixel, and like the Pixel, mostly follows the pure android user interface.

When you plug in via USB to your PC, most modern Marshmallow or Nougat phones should give you a little message in the notification shade that says, "USB for charging". Tap the notification and it should expand to give you the option to connect for file transfers. Once you tap that, it should show up under "Computer" or "This PC" (depending on Windows version) and allow you to expand that to explore the phone's "Internal storage".

If that doesn't work for you, it might mean you need to find and install a driver in Windows. I'd be surprised if you need to do that, though, as most of the modern phones seem to be standardized enough that they work with native Windows drivers.
