Computer stuck in hibernation, wont wake up?

My HP P6-2203a tower gets stuck in hibernation? Its only started doing it although I havent done any updates or changed anything. It wont shut down either, unless I pull the mains plug. Ive held the off switch down for about 30 seconds, moved the mouse and pressed the keyboard keys that usually wake it up.Nothing works! I dont know if this has anything to do with win 7 or if its a hardware problem? But otherwise the computer works great.

Did you try system restore to a point before you had the difficulty ?

How could I the computer was dead, it wouldnt start again. I took the power supply out and tested it because I heard a click when the computer stopped dead but all voltages are within spec by the looks. I was watching a YouTube videa at the time. I cleaned the CPU cooler and fan of some dust (not much) and switched the two 4gb memory sticks around and it finnaly booted up after doing that but then the screen went technicolor with horizontal colors of the rainbow so then I tried another graphics card, that didnt work either. I realized I may have had to install the drivers for it after I replaced the original one. Anyway after three hours of trying everything I could think of it booted up and seems OK for now? I took a screen shot of the operating system on Speccy. But it says its an invalid file?

Thats right. When I got it going again I did a memory diagnostic test but after 6 hours of waiting for the test to run I realised it had stuffed up again, it was stuck at 99% of the test but it hadnt found anything wrong by that stage of 2 out of the 2 tests it had run. I had to switch off at the mains again, the computer started up again no worrys but it didnt go to the Start Windows Normally page?

I'm confused as to what you are saying. Suggest you do a system restore. You can do it from safe mode.

When you hard stop a computer by switching off the power and its rebooted, it goes to a page that says Start windows normally or Safe mode or Safe mode with network,etc... Anyway I just did a system restore,I dont know if its done any good yet? I noticed I had uninstalled Java about 2 weeks ago because I read somewhere that its not really needed but I cant imagine that being responsible for my problem? I did a command run, sfc/scannow but it came up OK.

I did the system restore,it worked OK but the LastPass password manager didnt appear and I had to re-install it. So now its coming out of hibernation when I press a keyboard tab. Looks like its fixed. Thanks Johnhoh, I appreciate the help.

It appears that post #2 by SIW2 solved your problem. Is that correct?

LastPass could also be the culprit causing problems.
