    Can't Delete File?

    Hope someone can help..........

Have a file that refuses to be deleted--its a .ufo photo image file proprietary to a ULead PhotoImpact 11 program. It won't open and when trying to delete it from a desktop folder it just won't but I do get a progress window that says "preparing to recyle" but it just runs continually as though it is moving that file to the recycle bin.

I've even tried deleting the entire folder but same thing---just won't go away.

    Any help greatly appreciated----TIA!

If you boot in safe mode with cmd prompt, you can go to the file location and manually delete it from the folder.
In 99% of cases when I have such a file, doing it that way resolves it and the file deletes...

Most probably it is some process keeping the file in use, either by design or through software error/corruption.

Hope this works for you too.

    Live Linux CD/DVD/USB

I use a Live Linux CD/DVD/USB to obliterate files that Windows refuses to delete.

You can also use it to recover files (if your Windows OS dies).

    Tutorials
Emergency Kit - save your files from a dead OS
Peppermint Live CD/DVD/USB - Create for Emergency Backup

Sorry for being absent and not replying for a bit----life goes on some days! :)

I did get the file deleted, seems there's an issue with the program that created the file. Rebooting did the trick, that file is now gone so we'll consider this issue solved.

Thanks to all the great info here---I'll keep this in mind!
