Unable to create multiple desktops with desktops 2.0

I am trying to follow the instructions here: Unlock Virtual Desktops on Windows 7 or 8 With This Microsoft Tool

to create multiple desktops but it is not actually creating multiple desktops! It "acts" as it is creating desktops but it really is not. The link also says what you change on one won't affect the others, but nothing could be further from the truth! If I move icons around, delete icons and change various things on one desktop, it does it to ALL desktops created in this Microsoft program that it told me to use! I wanted a desktop just for Sim City 4 related programs icons so I created a second desktop and made it with only my Sim City 4 programs icons, but if I switch back to the first desktop, everything I changed in that desktop is present on the first main one. ALL the non-Sim City 4 icons were also deleted on the first desktop.

Everything I change on the second desktop gets changed on the first desktop. that tutorial says otherwise but it seems that they are far incorrect.

Anybody know what the problem could be?

That's how the software is designed to work. You can have multiple work-spaces on the same computer and circulate between tasks.

I think you misread the article. What it actually said was, "Windows you open on other desktops won’t appear to be open on your other desktops", and "Each desktop also has its own separate system tray". It never said nor implied that each desktop could have its own desktop shortcuts.

(I love and use Desktops 2.0 on a regular basis, but it does have its limitations. Still, it's handy enough, for the way I use it, to have it start up every time I boot.)
