Index Your Files prg

Hi I have been using the freeware prg. Index Your Files for a few years but recently I've found the "Select Database to search " window has shrunk to almost nothing rendering the selection difficult. Please see image.

Tried re-installing but to no avail. Has anyone else using this prg experienced this problem and maybe can suggest a fix.

Index files but keep them out of search?
This may be impossible, but I was wondering if files/folders could remain in the index (to retain the ability to sort them) but not show up in the windows search. If not, I don't mind as this was just a random thought.

sometimes windows doesn't re-index modified files.
I couldn't find a pattern, but sometimes windows does not include MS Office Word file modifications in its index database, thus fails to accurately search. I have to remove the location of my documents from "included locations" and add it again to solve the problem. indexer is in "Index Now"...
