Unable to delete a user profile folder.

    Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue with a profile which the folder will not remove.

The account has been deleted, it is not appearing in registry and I cannot delete to from CMD with the command RD /s /q "C:\users\xxx".

The folder is not shared and the only folder showing after deletion is AppData. When attempting to delete the folder it suggests it's in use/shared. Double checked the sharing permissions and it isn't shared.

We have tried to create the account again to maybe overwrite the folder but the new account was created with a slightly different name.

Could it be that other profiles are accessing the AppData?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the forum. You will need to take ownership of the folder to remove it

Thanks for your input, yes we've tried these methods which removed the profile, but the folder is still there.

Install Unlocker. It works from the right-click menu.

Reboot into Safe Mode. You should be able to delete it there.
