Application was unable to start error

    Good day everyone

I am not good with computers. I was used to using the antivirus program "baidu".

A friend of mine installed Symantec end point on my machine and it kept blocking everything I do, so I removed it today. Simple Control panel - add remove and I uninstalled it.

I restarted my computer and since then not a single one of my programs are working. All of them show the same error.

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)

I have looked for solutions everywhere.

I can't even uninstall my programs that don't work via control panel.

I also can't deactivate my firewall at all.

    Please help me solve this.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forums Hennieanton!

Have you tried starting in safe mode? You can try a system restore from there and/or root out the leftovers from the Symantec and Baido. You should always try the vendors uninstall programs for Anti-Virus applications.

Thank you so much for your reply indianacarnie.

I went ahead and did a system restore in safe mode and seems like it worked. I can open my programs without the error.

Only problem I have now is I can't open Symantec and I also can't uninstall it. Will that cause problems or can I just leave it as is and keep on using baidu?

Consider using the CleanWipe utility to remove Symantec Endpoint. The download link is at the bottom of the article under Download Files.
