Verify Trusted Device by Microsoft

I have an IPAD and I think I have gone through the steps to have it trusted. How can I verify that my IPAD is trusted by Microsoft before I travel?

An ipad is Apple. Don't see any relation to M$.

I have Microsoft Outlook.com as my email system on the IPAD - If you are more than 300 miles from home and try to use Outlook.com you will get a message that the device is not recognized (this has happened on my laptop which I do not use much). There is an app on the IPAD named Microsoft Authenticator which I have installed this app stores the sign on data for signing into your Microsoft Account. But I do not know whether this makes my device "Trusted".

The IPAD is much more portable then traveling with a laptop.

Hotmail or Outlook is a pain.
The solutions are insane.
It's not the distance but the IP you're using. They say they will send a SMS to my cel phone to confirm it's me. But where I travel I don't have cel phone. When I travel I never can use my Hotmail web mail.

There was a statement made by Microsoft about being 300 miles or more from home. Different ISP makes more sense but I suppose you could be connecting with the same ISP and be far away. And yes the solutions are insane. I emailed Microsoft about this and got a reply which was a canned list of how to get a trusted device, etc. which wasn't helpful. The Authenticator app I downloaded from the app store I set up and it gives me a numerical code to use but I don't know where I will be using it.

I used to travel with my laptop and went through the process of setting it up also with the help of Microsoft and it works but I am not traveling with my laptop now. One other solution is to use Gmail. I set up Gmail on my PC and linked it to Outlook.com such that any messages sent to Outlook are also sent to Gmail. Now I will have to see if I can make that happen on my IPAD. Verifying a device should be a simple procedure but Microsoft has made it a rube goldberg process.

They can tell by your IP address which identifies you general area. That is how advertisers on the Internet target their ads to your location. Supposedly they care to protect you from being hacked i.e. by recognizing that you not at your normal location and that someone at a remote location may be trying to get access to your PC.

Instead of sending a authentication code to your cel phone, they send the authentication code to your Authenticator app.
