Have Administrator rights but some actions say I don't

I have Administrator Rights, but in some instances, actions say they still that I need Administrator Rights, I find most recently that I cannot choose how to have Windows Updates install. It says that I don't have Administrator privileges, but I definitely confirmed in User Accounts that I do. Any suggestions how to correct this?

One thing you could try as a test is to create a new Windows account, and give it administrator rights. Then log in using that account, and see if the same problem happens for that account. If not, then your current administrator account is probably corrupt in some way, in which case the easiest fix is to use the new administrator account rather than the current one.

There are instances when, even though I have administrator rights, Windows 7 tells me that the task I want to do requires administrator rights. I must then click OK for the task to proceed. I'm not sure why that is, but I don't think it's a problem, because I have seen this a lot over the years with Windows 7.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I have already created another account before and gave it administrator privileges some time ago.Same thing. Its just that Windows Update automatically installed my updates without asking me, and the computer shut down and restarted unexpectedly. When I tried to change the settings in Windows Update, it wouldn't let me. (box was greyed out) because it required Administrator privileges. Just a nuisance.
