Thanks again for the responses

Thanks for the links, I have looked through tons of websites regarding optimization, the link you mention looks familiar, I probably came across it when I wasn't as in to optimizing my system and just skimmed it. Now that I am more interested, I looked through that link and it is a great resource as you mention. I have come across many of these, a couple new ones to add to my list from Brink and a few that other members mention throughout the thread. I will have to give some of these more in depth ones a try, with caution of course :)

Thanks Again

Yep look you are pretty safe with the optimise tutorial and what I do on my machines is back up the registry after a clean install or buying/building new one just in case I happen to hit a wrong key or value and it is then so easy the merge back the original registry.

Hi, I recently fixed my laptop from not booting at all. The problem was, I dual booted my Windows 7 Starter with Ubuntu using a partition, I made another partition to try to allocate more memory to my Ubuntu side and I got an error on boot up that said "Error: Unknown filesystem Grub rescue>". I...

Configure start menu "all programs" to be pop out menu like Windows XP
Anyone know if there is a way to configure the Windows 7 start menu "all programs" to be a pop out menu like Windows XP? I prefer is that way because it can show all items at once without needing to scroll.

missing "search programs and files" on start menu.
Dumb question. When using start option (lower left corner)on win7 laptop, you should have an option to search for anything in pc. This option is below the "all programs" selection. My laptop lost it somewhere. Same thing when looking at control pannel screen in the upper right hand corner is...

Some programs on start menu showing the "unknown" icon
For some reason, Adobe Acrobat Pro, PowerPoint, and QuickTime all have the default Windows "unknown" icon next to them on my Start Menu (and also on the taskbar if I open the program.) I thought I might be able to right click -> Properties -> "Change Icon" but it is greyed out and I can't even...
