Can windows explorer ever use a colon (:)

I'm trying to sort some media files out and some need a colon ( : ) put in the titile but windows will not have it.

Is there any way to make windows use the colon even another file manager that will let me get round it?

The colon is a reserved character and therefore cannot be used as part of a filename.

Here is some helpful information from Microsoft:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...(v=vs.85).aspx

You could try using File Name Character Translation to work around this limitation:

I personally wouldn't recommend this approach, because you are liable to end up with a mess on your hands if you do.
