Will everything work properly with a Balanced Power Plan?. If it does, you may have to live with that as it should not cause any problems with performance.

Is the ESI card a new one?.
@Ranger4 - The card is not a new one, I've had it installed in a previous desktop machine, which was running Windows XP 32bit. I've since upgraded that machine and also wanted to use a more stable (from a DAW point of view) "newer" 64bit OS, and hence the Windows 7 Ultimate install.

So it's not a laptop but a desktop machine, which is why I was not even sure if changing the power plans on desktop is relevant at all (see my OP).

So while I wait from ESI support on their response, I'm trying out an order of installing my drivers, and maybe that will yield more stable results. I'm taking a chance here as I have some recordings I need to do and I can't prolong this process any longer.
