    "links" folder in c:\users\'user name"

So, I started out with researching why every time I'm on a web page and I wanted to add it to favorites, I click on "add to favorites" and the following error comes up "Internet explorer has stopped working". So I read that I should add a "links" folder to my c:\users"my name" folder. I went in there and saw one already there but it was a shortcut so I moved in to an external drive and made a new one. I still get the error but now when I am in a windows explorer window and let's say I open the "my documents" folder, If I go over to the left side and right click on "favorites" and "add current location to favorites", that doesn't work either. I messed this up bad. Any ideas?

Well, apparently if you let my computer sit overnight and think about how much he frustrated me, he will do as I asked. I got on the computer just now and it has added the current location to my favorites.

BUT, it still won't let me "add to favorites" when I'm on a webpage. Like this one: I liked on the "favorites" in the menu bar and clicked on "add to favorites", and there's my message: Internet explorer has stopped working".

    Do a check disk
Open a CMD window and type
    chkdsk c: /f
It will ask if you want to schedule to next boot. Yes and reboot.

    Do a system file check
Open a CMD window and type
    sfc /scannow

Okay so FIRST, I was wrong when I replied with

"Well, apparently if you let my computer sit overnight and think about how much he frustrated me, he will do as I asked. I got on the computer just now and it has added the current location to my favorites."

That is still not working either.

    QUESTION when I do chkdsk c: /f
    What is the "f" mean?

UPDATE: Chdsk did fix the "add current location to Favorites"

BUT if I want to add this website to my favorites, I click on "Favorites" in the menu, then click on "add to favorites" and the messages "internet explorer has stopped working" comes up.
