    Brink posts links to the Monthly Rollup Updates (in the News section).

    Make sure you select the Security Only Updates.

    IIRC, the IE Updates are NOT included.

    You can also get Monthly Rollup Update via this page:

    Opening this thread again. After operating well for a day the system has reverted to the original problem, viz delay between command and response and general lack of response.
    I have tried to follow the instructions above but first download (KB3020369): see attached capture

    2nd download (KB3125574) received this message: see 2nd attached capture.

    This is becoming too complicated for a non technical person like me. However, I thank you for your help and wish I could have understood it all. Looks like I must purchase another computer as I have much work to do.

    Under services (%windir%\system32\services.msc) Windows update must be set to Manual (not disabled), otherwise you won't be able to manually install updates (*.msu files).
