Strange Issues in Lappy

Few days ago I had an issue with nearly all the scripts failing to function properly & so forth. End result I lost the Saved Logins in FF, I was able to restore from an 6 month old backup.

Again I had a same prob once again - with in 72hrs. This time I didn't have any popups either. I use private browsing while downloading, so that it if any site is infected at least it won't get stored in my history/cache/tmp files. My downloads stopped all of a sudden (in FDM), it won't continue. When I tried to disconnect & connect back to my WIFI modem via Open Networking.. it kindda hung up & didn't show the available connections with ping showing not reachable.

I ran sfc scannow just a few mins prior to that with zero errors found. When I again tried to run it, it said it couldn't run. My other applications wouldn't start other than the Malwarebytes Malware scan that was running already. I ran similar scripts numerous times in the past with out any hassle but presently I'm unable to point out what's the reason for the current mess. I had to reboot my lappy for things to function again normally.

If this was an one time occurrence it was alright but this is the second time in 3 days & I'm worried if this would become some sort of trend. I'm not sure what's wrong. I have ran complete scan using Bit Defender, it didn't find any virus, Malwarebytes didn't find anything... Can someone guide me any alternative on what else I could scan or if there are any logs from where we could find out why this is happening & how I could prevent such an system error.

Two things you can try:

1. Reboot into Safe Mode. Run MSCONFIG, go to the Services tab. Hide all of the Microsoft services, then disable all the services which still show on the screen (the non-Microsoft services). Reboot into Normal mode, and see if the problem has disappeared. If the problem has disappeared, then one of the non-Microsoft services was causing the problem. To find which one (or two) was the culprit, go into MSCONFIG, to the Services tab. Re-enable one service, then reboot. See if the problem has returned. If not, then you know that that service is ok. Keep doing this with each service till you find the one that causes the problems. Make a note that that service needs to stay disabled. Continue doing this for each service, till you have re-enabled each one or marked it for disabling. The one(s) you found that caused problems need to stay disabled.

2. Install NoScript Security Suite in Fire Fox (it's an add-on). Make sure it is set to disable all scripts. Then as you surf the web, carefully enable only those scripts that are necessary, leaving all others blocked. It will take some time and patience to go through this process; but if a bad script was the problem, then this will solve the problem for you.

Thanks for your suggestions mate but the problem is not regular for me, so the reboot trick may not work. I didn't have this problem until today, just a while back I had the same problem. Instead of waiting for other processes, I rebooted the lappy.. I observed something strange..

The Logging Off & Shutting down message windows where showing as if they were Zoomed In & they started showing in half the screen instead of my full resolution. While booting, MS prompted if I wanted to start in normal mode or safe mode (apparently windows didn't shut down properly), I chose the normal though. Have ran sfc scan & malware scare nothing been reported. Will run checkdisk for errors during my next reboot as well.

I have installed the script Noscript security suite, haven't set them to disable all scripts yet though. Do you think these scripts can affect the way window shut down too ? As I have generally noted.. when I have this problem - (1) Internet breaks down, even though net is pinging at times (2) I get not enough space in disk errors constantly, when ever I try to run any file (3) Mostly I have noted this happening when I am trying to download multiple files

One more thing I noticed just today was cursor was showing cd image (the one you get when you insert an CD) at times while loading. I haven't used CD drive in ages.

NoScript should only affect your browsing experience, because it blocks or allows scripts which are running at web sites that you visit. Some of these scripts take a very long time to run, or are misbehaved, slowing down everything related to browsing.

Thanks mate if that's the case it shouldn't affect the other processes in my lappy rite ? As when I have the problem - net breaks as mentioned earlier, along with the other listed issues.

One more thing I forgot to mention is Indexing broke in my "G" folder, when I started having the prob for the 1st time, I haven't fixed it yet though, does that mean "G" drive could be corrupted. Last time when I tried to search a file, it said it may take longer in non-indexing folders/drives & listed it as "G:'"

If this was an recurring prob (net hangs up, space not available ones), the reboot may have worked but for me its only happening while I try to download multiple mp4 files via FDM using FF for getting the download links.
