    Windows7 admin & users


    Hi!
    i have windows7 on my pc with an admin (me) and a normal user (my brother) part, every time i install a program, win7 don't ask me nothing, and install in both parts, now i want to install some programs only in my admin section, and i want the other users can't see the program i've installed, they can't see, they can't touch, they can't do any damage XD

    someone can help me?

    Down load the program. Right click on icon go to properties>compatibility> change setting for users >privileges. Then select what you want.

    Open the start menu and right click on the all programs item

    Click on open all users

    repeat the above but click on open

    This will open the folders containing the current users start menu and that for all users - you can now move or delete the shortcuts to set which items are available to which users.

    If you do this as your user you will need to open the Hidden folder at c:\users\brothrersusername\appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu to check the shortcuts for your brothers ID

    Most install that I';ve done ask if it's for just one user or all users of the PC.

    If he has a limited account, the program shortcut icon will not appear in his Start menu and/or desktop.

    how? do you open the setup file like richc46 said? or appear automactly

    my brother have a limited account i think, i ve set his account with no privileges, if he try to modify, install or open my folder the S.O ask him the admin password

    Not all software asks. It is up to the programmer that created the install package.

    Install the software in your user directory. Instead of "Program Files".
