Yeah right Layback Bear.
I used some time IObit System Care which offers a cleanup of start menu's en to "improve" the start up.
That indeed cleaned the list of actual programs in startup menu and the desktop.
"The most certain way to screw up a system may be is a register cleaner".

OK - I FINALLY managed to have my problems resolved, so thanks for all efforts to help. As it turned out, some combination of my 2nd attempt at creating a new personal user (administrator) account, along with the YouTube video solution (You have been logged on with a temporary profile), was what finally worked for me.

I highly recommend not using anything made by IObits. Such things have cause many problems.
