Can't get windows sessions off taskbar in Windows 7 64-bit

I can't get windows sessions off task bar in Windows 7 64-bit. I recently reloaded Windows 7 and now when I try to open a file, the icons for the windows I open stay on the task bar. They won't move to the desktop.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

    Hello elawhomey10, :)

You might see if the windows may be offscreen. If so, you should be able to drag them back on-screen.

Thank you, Brink. It was so obvious. I'm running into other weird stuff too, like the CASCADE WINDOWS on the taskbar -- it is not check, so I can't use it.

    Thanks much.

    You're most welcome. :)

The "Cascade windows" context menu item doesn't get checked. You should be able to click on it to use it like below.
