Truely changing the user name

I created my username as Wenda, but it was acting like a partial administrator so someone told me to create a new User Account. So I renamed the old one to (which was Wenda) WendaOld.. And created a new one called Wenda. But all the my documents said Wenda_2. I changed the name of some of the documents to be both on the D: drive and be Wenda.. But I know I didn't get them all. I know I still had to manually go to the software and change paths, and some software don't give me an option to change the path.

Then I ran a Belarc Advisor, and it also has me as user Wenda_2. Yet when I go to the user account, I am just Wenda. How can I truely get the _2 off my name?

When you change the user name, the folder name does not change, and cannot be changed without some MAJOR problems, if at all.

What you need to do is log in as "Administrator" and delete the other two accounts. In the process of deleting them, you will be offered the chance to save their files. I believe these will be placed in a folder on the admin desktop. Once this is done, create a new account that will be your permanent one. You will need to log out as administrator and in as the new user so that the profile gets created. Then log out and back in as administrator, copy the files that were saved into the new account's user directory and the next time you log in as the new user, everything should be in place with the proper folder name.

Well if it will not fix my folder names, is it worth doing? I mean you make it sound like the folder name cannot be changed. So If I delete these users should the folders delete with that? Because the original account "WendaOld" with account of Wenda has been deleted, but the Wenda folders are still in the C:\users folder, But maybe that is because WendaOld is not the same as Wenda..

3) My hard drive failed and I could not get a good image burn of C:\.
4) My Admin account was not registering as Admin for software, but ok for W7 commands.

This will be my 5th go around.. It seems the original Wenda folder will not delete even though the user is deleted. Can I get rid of the protection so I can delete this folder, so that Wenda when created, will create a folder 'Wenda' ???

that stinks.. I guess if I forever restore from my image burn, for the life of W7 it will save me the hassel of recreating the world.. But I will forever be #2, never #1..

The whole point of my post was to achieve what you want, a user name with a folder name that matches.

Delete all the users and their associated folders, and create a new user, copy the stuff from the old into the new, *poof* problem solved.

Thank you MacGyvr, what you said worked. I think I got you a little upset, and did not mean to. I was unsure if with what you said would let me go back to my original user name, or if I just had to make up a new one. The others comment made me think, I could not go back to the original user name.. I did not want to do all that work to get Wenda_3.

But, I did a test which partially did what you told me. And I got my original user name back. I found I could delete the Wenda folder, (don't know why I could not before, maybe besides deleting the user, you had to restart the system?) Anyway. I renamed my current account (Wenda as name, Wenda_2 as folder.. To be Wenda_2 so the name matched the folder.).. Then I created a new Wenda account.. And this did work! I got both a Wenda userName with Wenda folder.. If it did not work I had not blown away my other account.

I do not mind resetting the account up to fix everything, just didn't want to do it, if it didn't solve the problem.
