Can not rename files in a library directory

Hello the board, I was trying to clean up some filenames in subdirectory under a Win7 library. The names change back within a dozen seconds or so. I opened properties for one of these files and changed it to R/W instead of read only. It made no differenc3e, the new name reverts back to the previous name. I am doing this as an admin. There must be a correct way to do this, but I find myself fighting the system! Please help.

    Thanks, Stan

A library directory is a jump point, right click on the file and see if you have an option to view file location. :)

I know the location, and am attempting the rename in its actual directory. As a double check on what you have offered, I just checked it again, within properties. I am in the correct directory.

    Thanks, Stan
