I don't understand it either. SyncToy could do as it pleased with the file but I couldn't do anything with it.

Font forge is still making .ttf files for me that are undeletable. I generated a new .ttf and it's gone into the same loop. Only now the SyncToy workaround isn't working. Sigh.
Just as a test- Open Wordpad, create a document- save as a txt. file and save it to the same folder on your D drive that you save the ttf file to. Close down and reboot your system and see if you can delzzete the txt file. Let us know what happens!
By the way - Did you ever install the "Take Ownwership" command into the right click context menu?
Tried the notepad document. Can delete it. Don't think it's a permission issue.
Yep, played around with the take ownership regedit.
The one thing I noticed when I first create the .ttf file in fontforge, I can delete it, but as soon as I install it, then the problem starts.
Looks like when you install a new font generated in FontForge, then FontForge locks the original file. I've lost track a bit on this one as I'm not sure how to take some of your responses to suggestions offered. IE When I suggested the "take ownership" idea your response was that youI have no idea whether that means you have installed the Take Ownership option and that it appears in the context menu when you right click on a file?played around with the take ownership regedit.
I installed it but after it didn't help with the problem I removed it.
I would re install "Take Ownership" It is a very useful addition to your Windows environment.
It looks like we have established that your problem is specific to the FontForge software. I believe this is a "Paid For" program so would suggest that you contact them with the problem.
I still have take ownership, it's just a click away.
Font forge is free, and the support for it is non existent unfortunately. I think you're right, might be a font forge specific problem. I'll poke around in that direction.
EDIT: Not sure what is going on, but I tried deleting the files today and it worked. I guess those files only delete on Friday.
