How to get round IP address ban?

I use a certain site to download jpeg files for creating earth terrain data. Unknown to me they put a ban on IP addresses which download heavily from the site. As far as I know, just changing my PC IP address won't help (would I have to change the router address?); in any case, as soon as I change settings for IPV4 in Local Area Connection Properties from automatic, I can't connect to any websites any longer: I don't know what IP address etc. to choose if I select one myself

Or maybe I need to use a proxy server?

It's not that I have done anything illegal here, in a global sense, I just downloaded too many GBs in a set time period I suppose (and as I say, I was unaware that such a rule existed). If I can't get the rest of the data downloaded, weeks of work are going to go down the drain. What's the simplest way to get around this problem?

    Thanks.

Sorry but it would be against forum rules to give help with this.

Hmmm, OK. I understand. I'll have to stick to Googling!
