Welcome to the Forum.
Please give us ALL the laptop specs (model and code).
Do you have the COA key sticker (look under the laptop and under battery? What kind of license is on it?
What keyboard layout is on it, Spanish or English?

Hi Lexicon1955
Unfortunately that lappy didnt come with Ultimate, Home Premium.
The key in use is for an Acer laptop, as language packs are Ultimate optional updates if your not being offered them then i would have to say that MS has also picked up on it
run this tool, copy/paste the output, and i'll give it the once-over.

Take it back to the seller and demand a refund.

Every computer that came with Win 7 has a Certificate of Authentic y (COA) sticker on it. On a laptop, is under the case or under the Battery. If you find it, you can reinstall Win 7 in English.
You didn't answer: What keyboard layout is on it, Spanish or English?
Hi Torch! Hi Mega! Happy Friday
It's been an up and down roller coaster of emotions the last 24 hours. I very much appreciate the help from both of you.
I thought I was a goner when I read Torch's post last night. But you/he pointd me in the right direction - the optional updates. There were 50, including the English one. The infernal machine took all the important ones except two - they would not load for some reason. So I tried installing just that one optional update and no go.
I got an 80073712 error code. "Windows component store is corrupt". Which can be fatal.
I read the troubleshooting/fix directions.
1. Run Network Troubleshooter
2. Run Disk Error Check
3. Run Syatem File Checker
4. install System Update Readiness Tool
So, I looked at the translation for network and troubleshoot and headed to the Control Panel. I ran that program but now my problem is : I can't read the report. If I had it to do all over again I would have studied Spanish instead of French in school
So, that's where I am right now. Bruised but not beaten.
PS I did say English keyboard in that previous post.
Hi Lexicon,
Did you try and download them all ??
you only select the language you want..
Uninstall all the others
Anyway if you managed to install English you need to move to the top and make it your primary
Control panel >> Region & Language >> change keyboards .. general
select English in top bar then in the lower box move it to the top.
post the log for SURT, no:4, its in
C > Windows >> Logs >> CBS ...Checksur
