Sticky key? Keyboard and mouse weirdness.
I have a Windows 7 PC that's just started behaving in a weird way as if a "sticky key" combination has been pressed.
Using the keyboard, if, say I click on a file in Windows Explorer, then click on another, then want to delete just the second item both items are highlighted and would end up deleted. It's as if I had selected both.
The same issue arises using the mouse, say on the desktop. If I click one icon, then double click a second, both icons are opened up.
The only way round this if I have already clicked on a file or an icon is to click it again (to deselect it) before double clicking on another.
I've come up with this problem a long time ago and can't recall how I solved it.
Rebooting the PC doesn't change anything. A complication here is that the PC I am trying to control is remote/unattended some 7000 miles away back home and I am accessing it using TeamViewer. I can't power down the PC remotely because it doesn't always power back up. Key and mouse behaviour on the local PC I am using to control the remote computer are fine incidentally.
The other problem with the remote PC which is linked to the "select" issue (and started at the same time) is that if I type something into the remote PC using my local PC, incorrect characters end up being typed. For example typing "QWERTY" results in something like "^Q^W^E^R^T^Y". The only way round that problem is to type what I want into Notepad on my PC here, then copy and paste it into the remote PC.
Can anyone suggest some solutions please? Thanks
Alan
