    Windows 7 sign-in, getting black screen W/cursor, losing explorer.exe

I am having a problem with my computer sign in, Windows 7 Professional. This computer is shared with my wife, she has her desktop and I have mine. Problem started out with me getting the black screen and cursor, having to go to Windows Task Manager and selecting new task, explorer.exe, and getting my desktop icons back and able to use the computer. This has happened intermittently to me over the past few weeks. Couple days ago, my wife complained she had the same issue on her side, same scenario, same solution w/ Task Manager. Seems like the computer is dropping the explorer.exe at will from either side of our computer. I have tried booting from a "clean boot," I have run Sfc /Scannow, Checkdisk, malware/antivirus scans, downloaded trial version CCleaner, all without luck of being able to cure this problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks - Rick

Maybe accidentally you ever using another shell replacement on windows? It could cause the problem. Maybe you could check the registry about the default share. Anyway the link is outside seven forums, I tried to find it on 7 forums, but seems nothing came up (Replacing the Explorer Shell in Windows 7 - TechGenix)

Thanks BenyaminL - Have never had any shell other that OEM Microsoft. I did find on page 2 of this same section of Seven Forums, an article about newer shells out there for download. I have been fighting a headcold for the past 3 days, was on here all day yesterday, just don't feel like messing with it.

Thanks for responding, I do appreciate any and all suggestions, as I am at a loss, as to what is going on. Computer has acted and signed on okay today, a little slow/sluggish in getting the desktop, but it did come up on it's own! Anyway, have a nice evening! - Rick

Err,, you're the one who responded to my post suggesting the possibility of me having a replacement shell.
But that's okay, no need for you to respond anymore. I will continue my search and hope someone that who has had this problem before will be able to make a suggestion on how to fix!
