This CompatTelRunner is something new I hadn't noticed before. When the HD light came on, I looked at the Rask Manager and saw this running. It activates about 10 minutes after boot-up and runs for a few minutes. Just curious about it.

This website describes what this actually is. I would not advise running any of the links on the site, but read it so you know what CompatTelRunner is.

Thanks for the info. I disabled it through Task Scheduler. Some info I found said it's only necessary if planning on installing Windows 10.

You are welcome. While you are correct on the Windows 10 part, it is important for Windows 7 Updates as well. I have left it working, yet I have no intention up installing Windows 10 as this stage.

Since disabling CompatTelRunner, my system seems a little faster. Keeping my pixels crossed.
