Is my broken sager laptop worth anything?

I bought this laptop late in 2014. Its windows 7. Quad core processor and 256gb ssd and 8gb ram. When i first got it, it was very good. It was the most thin 14 inch laptop at the time. After a while, i recalled battery went bad and i had to get replacement batteries twice. Thus after the first time, i had to get another replacement battery after not using the new battery for that long. But besides that, i had to pay another for someone to open up laptop because there are so many screws to open this laptop.

I had this laptop for around 2 years before the laptop just stopped working. I was using it one day and then it just powered off. Went to a few repair shops and they looked and said it no longer works anymore as you cannot power on. I obviously was not going to get it repaired... because price would cost as much as the lapto itself and it had issues with it. Now i do have the 256gb ssd and 8gb ram. So if i want to sell this laptop, well those 2 parts are worth the most right? How much is a 256ssd used samsung worth? What about 2 pieces of 4gb ram?

Also is the computer even worth anything at all? Or is it only those 2 parts that are worth something. Because if its not worth anything, do i just throw it away? I bought this laptop for over 1400 dollars i believe back then. That means if it can't power on, my processor doesn't work at all etc right?

You might be able to part it out. Someone may have the same laptop with a bad screen or keyboard that would buy yours. You could try advertising it for parts on sites like Ebay or Craigslist.

Even if it was fully functional, it wouldn't be worth a lot, people just aren't willing to pay much for used laptops.

In my case, the power button itself was bad and was an easy and cheap DIY fix.

I've repaired two PC's in the last week, that would not boot up and seemed DEAD.

Both customers were contemplating buying a new PC. Over the many years that I've been fixing PC's, I learned to always check the little CMOS battery first. And in both cases, above, a new CR-2032 battery fixed the PC and it booted up just fine.

Then after a few tweaks and updates, both PC's were working better than new.

I'd love to have that Sager Notebook. So if you want to throw it away, toss it my way!

I have six laptops that I've pulled out of dumpsters, etc. that I've refurbished and now work just like new, maybe even a little better.

Good Luck,
TechnoMage

Well one repair shop i went to, he is very good with computers. He told me basically its no good. So are you telling me there is a chance its fixable? He said it was fried i believe. He did open up the laptop of course to check the inside of it and when it didn't power on, he said it no longer works etc.

+1 on the CMOS battery. You can get one for just a few dollars at most stores, and that could do it. I had a computer with what I thought was a dead motherboard. On a whim I replaced the CMOS battery, and the computer came back to life!

Replacing the CMOS battery on a dead computer isn't a commonly talked about solution, so that's probably why the tech who looked at it didn't think of that.
