BSOD W7 Unmountable Boot Volume (tried everything I can think of)

Now - this is getting out of hand! You guys must be getting sick of me by now! I've ordered a new HDD and put the thing back together so I don't lose any screws. I've put the old HDD back in (just cos) and started it up (I'm bored) and now I can't get into the BIOS! Not getting the Toshiba splash screen, hitting del just takes me to a screen asking which OS I want to boot (only W7 is there) and I'm going round in circles. F2 doesn't get me to BIOS either. What's happened? I didn't take the CMOS batt out because it's soldered, I only tested its voltage (3.7V) - what's happened to the BIOS?!

Ok forget that, I've managed to get into the BIOS.

So I stole the HDD out of my mothers laptop when she wasn't looking, whacked it in and up it came! No errors, just started right up! So I can only assume thoroughly roasted hard drive. I'm still at a loss as to why it won't boot from other media with the faulty HDD installed.

I assume you are using winpe. If so, it tries to mount the volumes - presumably it is unable to do that which is why you get the error message. Possibly using forensic winpe would not have had the same problem
