Thanks for this. You have given me some hope now. I was afraid they changed something in the driver interface for some security reason. But indeed that would have required new drivers for everyone. Your diagnosis make good sense.
I did exactly what you mentioned. I installed the KB4284842 preview. Unfortunately, it does not fix the problem. The crashes are perhaps a little less frequent, but I cannot say that with much confidence. Not enough time to observe. I uninstalled this preview rollup now.
If after 6 months there is still no better fix for what is probably a known issue, what to expect ?
