    NET Optimization in Task Manager


    Since the May 2018 "patch", there are 2 processes showing up in the Task Manager which weren't there before (mscorswv.exe and mscorswv.exe *32). There is no activity showing with them (they are not using memory), but in the Services menu, they are shown as "running" (see attached screenshot). I wanted to know if it had anything to do with the patch and if this is something to be concerned about.

    Nothing to worry about. After you've installed a .NET framework update, either manually or through Windows update, the system does some precompiling of the .NET assemblies.

    After they have finished this they shouldn't use up any CPU or resources. It's best just to leave them running unless they're seriously impacting your system somehow?
