Can't grab and scroll bars, highlight text or move objects

As the title says, something has happened all of a sudden where I can't click on the scroll bar with the mouse pointer and move it. The only way to scroll now is to click above or below the bar.

In addition, I am also unable to highlight text by clicking and dragging.

And finally, I am unable to click and drag anything, like an icon or a video in a editing program.

Its sytem wide. Every program. I have no idea what I've done or how to fix it. I need my computer for video editing and this makes it completely untenable.

    Please help!

Hi Trippsy25, welcome to Seven Forums,

    I just Googled this:

You cannot move the scrollbar on Windows by dragging the mouse

    I hope this helps!

And just to be clear. Its not that I can pick up files/icons and then they snap back. Its just like I'm not even clicking. There's just no response at all.

Thats a good point. I need to try that. Hmmm. I'm going to have to dig deep to try and find a mouse...

    Hi Trippsy25,

Is it a wired or optical mouse?
If it is an optical mouse have you tried recalibrating it?

    I hope this helps!

Okay that wasn't that bad. Found it straight away. Aaaaaand..... the wireless optical mouse works fine. So something has happened to the touchpad. Not sure how to correct it just yet.

    Hi Trippsy25,

At least you are up and running!

Are there any yellow error triangles in Device Manager?
I was just thinking that maybe the touchpad driver has got corrupted!
Perhaps you could try updating the driver!

    I hope this helps!
