    Strange issue with folder redirection...

    Hi all,

I have a strange issue with folder redirection...

I am part of the IT department and funnily enough I have got an issue that I have seen no one else.

With all users, the documents library gets relocated to "\\SERVER-A\~" and this syncs to location "\\SERVER-A\cifs$\users\myuser\Documents". So when a file or folder is created in either directory, it pulls through to the other.

But... when I create a new folder in "\\SERVER-A\~" and try to change the name from new folder, it is saying "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program" - even though this is a brand new folder that is being renamed on creation. I click OK to this error, it still creates the folder, but sticks with the default name of "new folder", this also gets synced with "\\SERVER-A\cifs$\users\myuser\Documents" so i can see the newly created file in both locations.

However... if I go to "\\SERVER-A\cifs$\users\myuser\Documents" and do exactly the same action as above and name the folder "test", it creates and renames the file successfully and syncs correctly so I can see the folder in both locations.

I have checked my permissions on "\\SERVER-A\cifs$\users\myuser" and I have the correct permissions... full control plus I am the owner of the folder.

I have also checked permissions for "\\SERVER-A\~" and the permissions are the same as the above.

I have deleted the folder in "\\SERVER-A\cifs$\users" and recreated hoping it will sort the issue out, but no success.

    Any advice on this please?

    Thanks,

    Dan

I think someone changed the location of c:\users to the \\SERVER-A\cifs$\users using Sysprep

Go to this address on Regedit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

Is there any mention to \\SERVER-A\cifs$\users instead to %SystemDrive%\users ?

DON'T EDIT the REGISTER!!!! There is a way to move \users back to C:
