You probably can, though you may not need to, and you'll notice a small performance drop.

Hi rocki934 and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

Why not give it a go and see? Just make sure that you follow the instructions on how to make restore disks for your netbook first, and create them so that you can revert back should things go awry.

Thanks for the responses--Can anyone help me understand my video card issues? From the 7 pro update install requirements:
Video cardDirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or later driver
Also, anyone know of an online tutorial for making restore disks? does it matter that i don't have an optical drive?

Here's a quote from Microsoft about the Keys:
Volume Activation provides two different models for completing volume activations. The first model is Key Management Service (KMS) and the second is Multiple Activation Key (MAK). KMS allows organizations to activate systems within their own network, while MAK activates systems on a one-time basis, using Microsoft’s hosted activation services. Customers can use either or both key types to activate systems in their environment.
I am not that familiar with the different Key types, so I don't know how much I can help, The website I found this information on is HERE..

    Hope this Helps..
