OneDrive Explorer windows keep opening automatically - how to stop?

I have OneDrive installed on my computer. About once a day, one or more (sometimes up to a dozen) Windows Explorer windows open automatically all at the same time, all pointing to the root of my OneDrive folder. Is there any way to stop this without uninstalling OneDrive?

Under your start menu look at the startup folder and see if one drive is there. If so remove it.

OneDrive isn't there. And the explorer window pops up even if the computer has been running for days.

Have you checked the application's settings?

I have. Nothing in there controls how windows are opened.
