    Task Bar Disapearing

If I leave the laptop unattended for any period the taskbar is disapearing. The only thing left showing is the windows start icon. The taskbar is locked to the bottom and auto hide is not selected. The only way I can find to get it back is a restart.
    Any ideas please

Run an antivirus and anti-spyware scan. Also Press CTRL+ESC and see if it returns.

Hi there, open task manager and end Explorer.exe process. Then run this process again by clicking on File>New Task>explorer.

It's more likely than not a Windows Explorer issue. I'd say it's well worth running a chkdsk (repair) pass on your next reboot to make sure it's not down to minor hard disk cluster.

If you didn't perform a clean (custom) install there is always the possibility that it could stem from something inherent to the original operating system that you upgraded from.

Could still be malware not detected by his AV. I had one of those nasty things until I did a fresh install.

What screensaver do you use? There are some naughty screensavers out there that actually ShowWindow(SW_HIDE) the taskbar and then forget to show it again. Oops.
