Thanks I'll give it a try when i get some time, I got to do some backing up.. I've re-formatted pcs several times but i never really backed my stuff up. Easiest way of doing so?

Your from venice beach huh? I havent been yet but I have been wanting to move to cali and venice was my top choice. How is it there? I'm sure the cost of living there is pretty high. I hope to move out that way when I can find a job out there. I'm currently in a BA program for information technology and security and i am working on my MSCE Certs too. Any advice or tips? Thanks much man.

I plug in an external and copy my files by folder. Double- and triple-check.

I wouldn't import settings (appdata) as that is a corruption path from the old OS.

    I just got a 640G internal, I always like to run multiple Hdd's (a 160 and 120, and now a 640 YEAH!) so I have a private drive for personal data/backup data.

The little beach cottages are being gentrified quickly but the remaining level of street activity, including one of the world's most colorful alt beach scenes (but also including homeless camps and unrelenting gang activity that has stay bullets flying in some areas) is keeping it reasonably affordable.

The City gets pressure from the newbie gentrifiers to clean up the streets, but Venice keeps holding them back because it is one of the last great street scenes in Cali and appreciated widely for that.

Here in michigan its pretty hard to find work, and ive heard CA is just as hard if not harder than here now. Is that the case. I know you yourself may not be looking so you may not exactly know but is it hard to get a job out there say in computers....i.e network admin/IT, ?? I'd hate to post here about off topic stuff, if u have a different handle that would be cool. or if i wont get in trouble or yelled at i could keep it here. I dont really know anyone out on in So Cal so its nice to run into someone in the area i would be looking. Any help would be great, suggestions on work or if you yourself know of anyone hiring etc. Thanks man , It is much appreciated.

Can't advise on that (retired military surf rat) except that it's got to be better than Mich from what I hear (big Michael Moore fan), but I wouldn't jump if you're set there til you find something here.

You might do better in tech up north. It is prettier too (not a desert) tho not as warm, with more culture and smarts overall - where computers, Windows were born.

If you have a current job that has offices there ask for a transfer? Or are you currently looking? If that's the case good luck!
