    Hi and welcome

What the system specs and what power config are you using? Some systems mostly 64bit have a problem between driver and power plan

    Let us know

    Hi Joe

I suspect they are two different problems. Lets start with the shutoff. can you type cmd in search>powercfg -H enter
    see what value it returns

    Re refresh:
Look in event viewer (type eventvwr in search) go to the windows logs>application tab. Look for errors (red in left hand column) that have app hang, app crash, etc. Around the time of the hangs. Let us know what the event ID and srouce codes are

    Thanks

First, I would follow the advice of the above poster, he is very knowledgeable and has helped me when I was installing Win 7. In addition, I have the same problem, as you, but only to a very limited extent. I have found that it helps to log off, first. I have, also, found that the problem seems to occur after my computer has been on few a few days. It is always wise to shut down once in a while.

Does it shutdown when you close the lid? Turning off your computer properly.

What other shutdown settings have you changed? You may want to change your shutdown settings back to their default settings in order to trouble shoot.
