Password not accepted to get it out of Safe Mode
Hello, I have an elderly friend with a laptop that a neighbor of his set up, and the neighbor is gone now. It starts only in Safe Mode with networking. When I try to get it to start normal, it will not accept his password. I have tried changing the password, which I have to do from Safe Mode, and it does not solve the problem. I want to start it up in normal working mode and be able to use it as normally done. Is there any easy way to do this? Can I use a repair disc from my pc or laptop on his laptop to fix? Can I use my discs from my laptop and reload his whole system?(if so, do I need to format his hard drive first to delete it)? His system, like mine, is Windows 7 Home. Thank you, and neither of us are tech savvy, though I have a little experience. As I am elderly also, it would be easy to talk over my head or abilities. But it's worth the try. Thanks.

When you start in safe mode you also insert your password?
When you run in safe mode most startup programs aren't loaded. I would say you may have a virus or malware on it. Download the SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner, install it on a USB flash drive and run it on the laptop in safe mode. SUPERAntiSpyware - SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner |

Well, yea, complicated for some I agree. Your media is much simpler without a doubt!
Is that in the AOMEI WinPE build you posted before? I'll see if I can find that post and paste the link here. Didn't find the upload link. I uploaded your media I downloaded a few weeks ago to my Google Drive. Here's the link Win7_Repair_Tools_including_AOMEI Follow the same instructions to burn it to either USB or DVD Thanks again SIW2! Nic |

Agree with Megahertz07
You MAY have a virus or malware on it. Excellent scanners, yes, FREE!! SuperAntiSpyware free, this is what I use, there is also a paid version that runs real-time. ADWCleaner Malwarebytes recently purchased from Tools.lib, available on both websites HitmanProx32 scan is free, and one time trial virus removal, you can use Revo Uninstaller to remove it and trial cookies if it finds malware to remove, then you can use the trial again. HitmanProx64 scan is free, and one time trial virus removal, you can use Revo Uninstaller to remove it and trial cookies if it finds malware to remove, then you can use the trial again. TDSSkiller this is what I use, rootkit scanner. Malwarebytes Free this is what I use, one of the best all-around scanners, period. |

Thank you everyone for the responses. Unfortunately, my friend piggybacks off someone elses internet, with their permission, so I think I'm going to have to get his laptop over to my place so I have access to my laptop and the internet and can connect his laptop to the internet as needed. So I won't be able to deal with this until the weekend at the earliest.
Thank you. |

Hello, I have my friends laptop now -- I downloaded SuperAntispyware onto my laptop, hit start, programs, right click and send it to a usb stick. Then I moved the stick to the other laptop in Safemode, and can't get the Superspy program to activate from the usb stick. The safemode laptop is not connected to the internet. Any ideas?
Snick -- "my boot media", Data Recovery Folder, passwordedit, I can't find those. I don't know what to do with those other links. Can you clarify to a beginner please. |

This boot media contains Eset antivirus. It is under the start menu.
17514x86.iso 17514x64-v9.iso Burn the iso to cd/dvd, or extract it to usb using Rufus or similar. Boot it up. Run Eset. It will download about 100mb of definitions , then scan. |

How to create a Safe Mode password? I've heard that even if you have a password on your Windows logon screen, your computer can still be breached through Safe Mode unless you have a password there. Is this is correct, and if so, how do I go about creating a password in Safe Mode? |
