Stop libraries search from showing subfolders
Hi guys, is there any way to stop library search results from showing subfolders? Whenever I search for a folder name in a library (comprising multiple locations, i.e. multiple folders from multiple drives) not only do I get the folder/folders that I searched for, but also ALL the folders and files that are contained in that folder/folders, which clutters the results to the point of making the whole process useless.
I deselected the "Include subfolders in search results..." option in Folder Options, but this only seems to work for individual folder searches and doesn't seem to affect libraries at all.
Furthermore, after a search in any location, including libraries, there are options at the end of each search under "Search again in" and there is an option "Subfolders". Selecting this option works for searches in individual folders (and includes subfolders if they were not included in Folder Option), but it does absolutely nothing for libraries. Therefore, it would seem that the inclusion of subfolders is enabled in library searches by default and cannot be easily turned off.
Also, when I enabled indexing (just to be able to use libraries) I noticed that there are options to exclude certain files from being indexed. When I excluded all of them, this helped a little, because no files were displayed in a library search, just folders. However, this didn't get rid of the sub-folders, just the sub-files.
Is there any way around this? Perhaps some registry hack to prevent libraries to show subdirectories? Is there any other method of searching multiple locations from one window using built-in Windows tools?
I have a third party programme called UltraFileSearch, which allows me to search just for folder names in pre-specified locations, but I can only search for an folder. I don't have a nice list of folders that are pulled from several locations into one window.
