@Chris Nicola : Sir, about your latest experiment!
1) Are you sure you have installed Linux on your SSD & booting from it ? When you boot into a Linux installation media, it gives you the option of running linux directly from USB/CD-DVD & do not need to actually install it to a HDD or SSD. Even you can maintain a linux os fully on a usb pendrive with persistent storage feature.
2) If you have booted in linux from SSD, Then you should definitely give a try to windows 10 Pro 64.

( Simply proceed with win 10 pro x64 installation & avoid/skip typing a product key when asked )
