What dastardly thing is downloading here?

Bit of a click bait title. Sorry. We got 2 PCs at home. Mine & hers. Her little USB wifi adapter is blinking madly. And is gobbling up the bandwidth. Making my Youtube video viewing 'pause/play' to watch.

We have not set anything to download. And her browser download is not active. And no Win7 update is happening. Is there some way of investigating & locating this mysterious 'download'?

"Her little USB wifi adapter is blinking madly."
It's probably Win Update searching for updates.
Run WU manually. Does it search forever?
Try to set it to "Never check".

I realize that all we get are security updates but I suggest keeping the OS up to date. Maybe you have a reason for not updating.

It may just be background chatter a lot goes on like NetBIOS will check what's on the network if you ever mapped a drive it may check you need to see what's connected
